Philadelphia Flyers right winger Tyson Forester of Alliston, Ontario recorded his first National Hockey League hat trick on Wednesday. He accomplished the feat in an 8-5 Flyers win over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.
Forester’s first goal of the game came at 9:03 of the second period from Noah Coates to tie the game at one. Forester then scored the game-winning goal from defensemen Travis Sanheim of Elkhorn, Manitoba and Nick Seeler with four minutes and 27 seconds left in the third period to put Philadelphia up 6-4. Forester’s hat trick came with 55 seconds left in the third period from Seeler and Bobby Brink to put the Flyers up 7-5.
Forester ended the game with three points. He was one of four Canadians on the Flyers with a multi-point game. The others were Sean Couturier of Bathurst, New Brunswick (one goal and one assist for two points), Sanheim (one goal and one assist for two points), and Owen Tippett of Peterborough, Ontario (one goal and one assist for two points). Meanwhile, a fifth Canadian scored for the Flyers as Jakob Pelletier of Quebec City, Quebec scored at 8:01 of the third period.
In 2024-25, Forester has 22 goals and 17 assists for 39 points in 77 games. He is a -8 with 45 penalty minutes, six power-play points, two game-winning goals, 131 shots on goal, 52 blocked shots, 73 hits, 14 takeaways, and 36 giveaways. The other game-winning goal came on October 29 in a 2-0 Flyers win over the Boston Bruins. Forester scored from Morgan Frost of Aurora, Ontario and defenseman Emil Andrae at 5:32 of the second period to put the Flyers up 1-0.
