Minnesota United FC goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair of Pickering, Ontario has been named the 2025 Major League Soccer goalkeeper of the year according to Neil Davidson of the Canadian Press on Monday. He led the MLS this past season with a save percentage of 79.9%, and had the second best goals against average of 1.00. St. Clair gave up 30 goals in 30 games. He also made 111 saves, and had a record of 15 wins, seven losses and eight draws.
St. Clair is one of four Canadian goalkeepers who saw significant action in 2025. He was joined by Portland Timbers goalkeepers James Pantemis of Montreal, Quebec and Maxime Crepeau of Greenfield Park, Quebec, and CF Montreal goalkeeeper Jonathan Sirois of LaSalle, Quebec.
A goalkeeper with Minnesota United FC since 2019, St. Clair has now played 135 games in the MLS. He was the MLS All-Star Game MVP in 2022, and was an MLS All-Star twice. The first time in 2022 and the second time in 2025.
St. Clair is the second Canadian goalkeeper to win the MLS goalkeeper of the year award. Pat Onstad of Vancouver, British Columbia won the award twice with the San Jose Earthquakes. The first year came in 2003 and the second year came in 2005.
Minnesota is still in the thick of things in the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs. They will play the Seattle Sounders in the third game in a best of three first round series on Saturday.
