We now know the three teams left on the men’s side and the women’s side at the 2025 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In men’s action, the final three are Brad Jacobs of Calgary, Alberta, Mike McEwen of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Matt Dunstone of Winnipeg, Manitoba. In women’s action, the final three are Rachel Homan of Ottawa, Ontario, Kerri Einarson of Gimli, Manitoba, and Christina Black of Halifax.

The star on Wednesday on the men’s side was McEwen, also known as “Magic Mike.” The finalist of the 2017 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials reached the medal round this year in Halifax after beating 2006 Canadian Olympic gold medalist Brad Gushue of St. John’s, Newfoundland 9-7 in the morning draw, and Dunstone 9-5 in the evening draw. McEwen finished the round robin at 5-2.

It was also a two win day for Jacobs (6-1) as he qualified for the finals by beating Dunstone 6-2 and Gushue 6-3. Dunstone (4-3) advanced because Jacobs beat Gushue (4-3), and because he beat Gushue 9-7 on Monday. Dunstone will play McEwen on Thursday in the semifinals.

On the women’s side, Ottawa’s Rachel Homan reached the final by beating Kerri Einarson of Gimli, Manitoba 7-6. Einarson finished in second place with identical 6-1 records. The other team that squeaked into the playoffs was Black with a record of four wins and three losses. She reached the playoffs because of a 10-6 win over Kate Cameron of Winnipeg and because Kaitlyn Lawes of Winnipeg beat Kayla Skrlik of Calgary 9-6. Einarson will play Black on Thursday in the women’s semifinal.
