Ottawa Redblacks name Dinwiddie head coach and GM

According to Justin Dunk of 3downnation.com, the Ottawa Redblacks named Ryan Dinwiddie as their new head coach and general manager. Dinwiddie was the head coach of the Toronto Argonauts the last five seasons. In that time, he had a record of 51 wins and 35 losses in 86 games for a winning percentage of .593.

Dinwiddie also guided the Argonauts to two Grey Cup titles as a head coach. in 2022, at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan, the Argonauts defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 24-23. Then in 2024, at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Argonauts defeated the Blue Bombers for the Grey Cup title again. This time, it was a more convincing victory as the Argonauts were victorious by a score of 41-24. In 2023, Dinwiddie was the Canadian Football League coach of the year. The Argonauts had a regular season record of 16 wins and two losses.

As a player, Dinwiddie was a quarterback for five seasons in the CFL. He was with the Blue Bombers for three seasons from 2006 to 2008, and with the Roughriders for two seasons in 2010 and 2011. Dinwiddie completed 183 passes in 330 attempts for 2531 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He also had 36 rushes for 177 rushing yards and one touchdown.

This past season, the Argonauts and Redblacks both missed the playoffs. Ottawa fired head coach Bob Dyce of Winnipeg, Manitoba as a result.
