Team Ontario has recorded the most medals at the 2025 Canada Summer Games in St. John’s, Newfoundland. After trailing Team Quebec for most of the past two weeks, it was a strong Sunday for Ontario, which came away with seven medals (five gold, one silver and one bronze). Ontario led all provinces with the most medals (175). They had 63 gold medals, 57 silver medals and 55 bronze medals. Quebec was second with 173 medals (63 gold medals, 58 silver medals and 52 bronze medals).
Ontario’s five gold medals came in team sports. They defeated Alberta 8-5 in the gold medal game in women’s baseball, British Columbia 11-5 in the final in men’s box lacrosse, Quebec 1-0 in the gold medal game in women’s soccer on a goal by Chiamaka Omeze of Brampton, Quebec 4-2 in the gold medal game in men’s softball, and Alberta 25-14, 25-18, 27-29, 25-17 in the gold medal game in women’s volleyball. Ontario’s silver medal came in team mix artistic swimming, and their bronze medal came in men’s volleyball.
Meanwhile, Canada’s smallest province, Prince Edward Island, came away with two medals on Saturday. Both medals came in wrestling. Keely MacGrath of Fort Augustus won a silver medal in the women’s 65 kilogram division, and Alexsa Matheson of Hazelbrook won a bronze medal in the women’s 59 kilogram division. Prince Edward Island finished the 2025 Canada Games with four medals (one silver and three bronze).
