Nield and Vaughn record week 13 TDs for winning CFL teams

Week 13 is in the books in the Canadian Football League, and two Canadians scored touchdowns on winning teams. They were Saskatchewan Roughriders wide receiver Tommy Nield of Guelph, Ontario, and Calgary Stampeders quarterback Quincy Vaughn of Brantford, Ontario.

Nield had three catches for 86 receiving yards in a 34-30 Roughriders win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday. Nield’s touchdown catch was for a career high 69 yards and put the Roughriders up 14-10 with two minutes and 36 seconds left in the first half. On the season, Nield now has 13 catches for 199 receiving yards and a career high three touchdown catches.

Vaughn had a one-yard touchdown run with four minutes and 52 seconds left in the game to close out the scoring in a 28-7 Stampeders win over the Edmonton Elks on Monday. He finished the game with three rushes for four yards. So far this season Vaughn has been used as a quarterback and tight end. He has 23 rushes for 40 rushing yards and two touchdown runs. The other touchdown run was for one yard in a 41-20 Stampeders win over the Blue Bombers on July 18. Vaughn also has one catch for 15 yards, which came in a 24-10 Stampeders win over the Roughriders on July 12.

The Roughriders lead the West Division with a record of nine wins and two losses. The Stampeders are in second at eight wins and three losses.
