Nick Pivetta of Victoria. British Columbia recorded his 65th Major League Baseball career quality start on Wednesday. He accomplished the feat in a 6-4 San Diego Padres win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Pivetta pitched six innings and gave up seven hits, and one earned run, which was a home run to Kyle Schwarber. Pivetta threw 90 pitches of which 65 pitches were strikes, and had six strikeouts. Of Pivetta’s 65 quality starts, 10 have now come with the Padres this season. He also had 19 quality starts in three seasons with the Phillies from 2017 to 2019, and 36 quality starts with the Red Sox from 2021 to 2024.

In 2025, Pivetta has a record of nine wins and two losses with an earned run average of 3.25. In 17 games and 97 innings pitched, Pivetta has given up 77 hits, 35 earned runs, 12 home runs, and 24 walks, to go along with 107 strikeouts and a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) of 1.04.

Pivetta is one of three pitchers to lead the National League in wins with nine. He is tied with former Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Robbie Ray of the San Francisco Giants, and Freddy Peralta of the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Padres are currently at 47 wins and 40 losses. They have the third best wildcard record in the National League.
