St. Louis Blues goaltender Joel Hofer of Winnipeg, Manitoba recorded his sixth National Hockey League shutout on Tuesday. He accomplished the feat in a 3-0 St. Louis Blues win over the Carolina Hurricanes at the Enterprise Centre in St. Louis, Missouri.

Hofer made 33 saves overall. He made nine saves in the first period, 11 saves in the second period and 13 saves in the third period. Defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere led the Hurricanes with five shots on goal.

It has been a spectacular season for Hofer, who now leads the National Hockey League with four shutouts. He is tied with Ilya Sorokin of the New York Islanders and Jesper Wallstedt of the Minnesota Wild.

For the season, Hofer has a record of 10 wins, nine regulation losses and two losses in extra time. He has a goals against average of 2.81 and a save percentage of .902. Hofer’s other three shutouts this season have come against the Buffalo Sabres, Utah Mammoth and Winnipeg Jets.

With the win, the Blues snapped a three game losing streak. They have improved to a record of 18 wins, 21 regulation losses and eight losses in extra time for 44 points. They are five points back of the San Jose Sharks for a playoff spot.
