Jameson Taillon records 96th MLB quality start

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jameson Taillon, who represents Canada internationally, recorded his 96th quality start of his Major League Baseball career on Monday. He accomplished the feat with a victory in a 3-1 Cubs win over the Colorado Rockies at Wrigley Field.

Taillon pitched six and a third innings and gave up four hits, one earned run which was a home run, and had zero walks. Taillon also had seven strikeouts, and faced 23 batters. He threw 82 pitches of which 55 were strikes.

This season, Taillon has a record of four wins and three losses with an earned run average 3.86. In 63 innings pitched and 11 games, he has given up 54 hits, 27 earned runs, 15 home runs and 12 walks, to go along with 51 strikeouts and a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) of 1.05.

This was Taillon’s seventh quality start of the season. He has 32 quality starts over three seasons with the Cubs. Taillon also has 44 quality starts for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and 20 quality starts with the New York Yankees.

The Cubs will be going for the sweep in the three game series on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the Cubs defeated the Rockies 4-3. In the National League Central, the Cubs have a record of 34 wins and 21 losses. They lead the St. Louis Cardinals by three games.
