Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jameson Taillon recorded his 90th Major League Baseball quality start on Wednesday. Taillon, who represents Canada internationally because his parents are Canadian, pitched very effectively in a 10-2 Cubs win over the Athletics at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, California.

Taillon pitched six innings and gave up only two earned runs. He threw 94 pitches, and had 60 strikes. Taillon had seven strikeouts and gave up three walks and one home run.

It was a tough start to the season for Taillon, as he gave up six earned runs in 4 1/3 innings of work in an 8-1 Cubs loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on March 28. For the season, Taillon has a record of one win and one loss with an earned run average of 6.97. In 10 1/3 innings pitched, he has given up 13 hits, eight earned runs, three home runs, and three walks, to go along with eight strikeouts and a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) of 1.55.

Of Taillon’s 90 MLB quality starts, 44 have been with the Pittsburgh Pirates, 20 have been with the New York Yankees, and 26 have been with the Cubs. Chicago currently has a record of five wins and four losses. They are in second place in the National League Central and half a game back of the division leading St. Louis Cardinals.
