Grondin wins gold, silver in World Cup snowboard cross in Quebec

Canadian Olympic silver medalist Eliot Grondin of St-Romuald, Quebec won the gold medal and silver medal in two men’s World Cup snowboard cross events in Mont. St. Anne, Quebec over the weekend. He won the silver medal on Saturday and a gold medal on Sunday.

Grondin, who won a silver medal in men’s snowboard cross at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, placed behind gold medalist Jakob Dusek of Austria and ahead of bronze medalist Nathan Pare of the United States on Saturday. Then in the final World Cup men’s snowboard cross event of the 2024-25 season on Sunday, Grondin placed ahead of silver medalist Aidan Chollet of France and bronze medalist Loan Bozzolo of France.

In Saturday’s snowboard cross event, Grondin won the first first round heat, and finished second behind Chollet in the first quarterfinal heat, before winning the first semifinal. In Sunday’s snowboard cross event, Grondin finished second behind Quentin Sodogas of France in the first first round heat, before winning the first quarterfinal heat, and finishing second behind Chollet in the first semifinal heat.

In the World Cup men’s snowboard cross standings, Grondin won the Crystal Globe with 684 points. Bozzolo was second with 473 points. This was Grondin’s second Crystal Globe title in his career as he also won in 2023-24.

Grondin has now won 25 World Cup medals. He has won 13 gold medals, seven silver medals and five bronze medals. The gold and silver medals in Mont St. Anne will give him confidence as he prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
