The Edmonton Oilers are the fourth Canadian team that has qualified for the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. They follow the Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets and Ottawa Senators.

On Friday night at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, the Oilers defeated the San Jose Sharks 4-2. With the win, the Oilers improved to a record of 46 wins, 28 regulation losses and five losses in extra time for 97 points. Edmonton cannot be caught by the Calgary Flames, which sit in fourth place in the Pacific Division with 90 points.

The Oilers were led on Friday by Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario. The Oilers captain had four assists and now has 97 points for the season. He has 26 goals and 61 assists.

Three of the four goal scorers for the Oilers were Canadian. They were defenseman Evan Bouchard of Oakville, Ontario, Connor Brown of Toronto, Ontario, and Canadian Olympic gold medalist Corey Perry of New Liskeard, Ontario. Perry won a gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. Meanwhile, three Canadians on the Oilers had a multi-point game. Joining McDavid, were Bouchard and Adam Henrique of Brantford, Ontario. Bouchard had one goal and one assist for two points, and Henrique had two assists.
