There is one day left in the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. and there are still some medals to be up for grabs. From a Canadian perspective, there are medal opportunities in hockey and freestyle skiing.

In freestyle skiing, the women’s halfpipe is taking place (Sunday at 2:40 AM MT). There are two Canadians participating. They are Rachael Karker of Guelph, Ontario and Amy Fraser of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Karker won the bronze medal for Canada in the women’s halfpipe at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing,  and has won 16 World Cup medals (two gold medals, eight silver medals, and six bronze medals). Fraser has won five World Cup medals (one gold, two silver and two bronze).

Then at 6 am MT, Canada will fave the United States for the gold medal in men’s hockey. The big question now is whether or not Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will be available to play. Crosby was injured in the quarterfinals against the Czech Republic and did not play the semifinals game for Team Canada on Friday against Finland as a result. Crosby, who won the gold medal at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, is expected to be a game time decision. The top player at the Olympic Winter Games so far is Canadian centre Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario. The Edmonton Oilers star has 13 points (two goals and 11 assists) in five games.
