Darcy Kuemper records 36th career NHL shutout

Darcy Kuemper of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan recorded his 36th National Hockey League shutout on Saturday. He accomplished the feat in a 3-0 Los Angeles Kings win over the Edmonton Oilers at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

Kuemper made 27 saves. He had nine saves in the first period, eight saves in the second period, and 10 saves in the third period. Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard of Oakville, Ontario led the team with seven shots on goal.

This season, Kuemper has a record of 28 wins, 10 regulation losses, and seven losses in extra time. He has a NHL leading 2.03 goals against average, five shutouts, and a save percentage of .921. Kuemper’s five shutouts are the third most in the NHL this season. He is only behind Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets (seven), and Andrei Vasilevskiy of the Tampa Bay Lightning (six).

Of Kuemper’s 36 career shutouts, eight have come with the Los Angeles Kings. He has had 10 with the Arizona Coyotes, seven with the Minnesota Wild, six with the Washington Capitals, and five with the Colorado Avalanche.

With the win, the Kings remain in second place in the Pacific Division. They have a record of 44 wins, 23 regulation losses and nine losses in extra time for 97 points.
