Two Canadian beach volleyball teams are still alive at the 2025 World Beach Volleyball Championships in Adelaide, Australia. On Tuesday, the Canadian women’s team of Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson of Toronto, Ontario defeated Valentyna Davidova and Anhelina Khmil of Ukraine 21-18, 21-12 in the round of 32. Meanwhile, Jonathan Pickett of Wiarton, Ontario and Samuel Schachter of North York, Ontario defeated Matthew Immers and Ruben Penninga of the Netherlands 21-18, 19-21, 15-9 in the Lucky Loser Playoff round.

In the win for Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson, Wilkerson had 23 points (21 attack points and two block points). Humana-Paredes had 11 points (seven attack points and four aces). It is interesting that Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson are only seeded 10th at the 2025 World Beach Volleyball Championships despite being the reigning Olympic silver medalists and champions at the Elite 16 event in Montreal this summer.

In the win for Pickett and Schachter, Pickett had 20 points (15 attack points, four block points and one ace). Schachter had 15 points (13 attack points and two aces).

Next up for Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson in the round of 16 will be Daniela Alvarez Mendoza and Tania Moreno Matveeva of Spain. They will play at 2:30 AM MT on Thursday morning.

Next up for Pickett and Schachter in the round 32 will be Anders Bernsten Mol and Christian Sandlie Sorum of Norway. They play at 2 AM MT on Wednesday morning.
