Canada wins 4x100m silver at 2025 World Athletics Championships

Team Canada has won the silver medal in the men’s 4×100 metre relay at the 2025 International Association of Athletics Federations World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. On Sunday, the Canadian team comprised of Andre de Grasse of Scaborough, Ontario, Aaron Brown of Toronto, Ontario, Brendon Rodney of Etobicoke, Ontario. and Jerome Blake of Kelowna, British Columbia. This is the same quartet that won the gold medal for Canada in the men’s 4×100 metres at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

De Grasse, Brown, Rodney and Blake posted a second place time of 37.55 seconds. The United States won the gold medal with a time of 37.29 seconds. The Netherlands won the bronze medal with a time of 37.81 seconds. Canada reached the podium by 0.38 seconds over Ghana, which had a fourth place time of 37.93 seconds. The silver medal for Brown, Blake, de Grasse and Rodney will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

This was the fifth medal for Canada at the 2025 World Athletics Championships. They finished the event with three gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal. The gold medalists were Evan Dunfee of Richmond, British Columbia (men’s 35km walk), Camryn Rogers of Richmond (women’s hammer throw), and Ethan Katzburg of Nanaimo, British Columbia (men’s hammer throw). The bronze medalist was Marco Arop of Edmonton, Alberta (men’s 800 metres).

Canada had the sixth most medals at the 2025 World Athletics Championships. They were behind the United States (26), Kenya (11), Jamaica (10), Italy (seven), and the Netherlands (six).
