Canada trounces Wales 42-0 in Women’s Rugby World Cup

Team Canada has improved to a record of two wins and zero losses at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in England. On Saturday, in Manchester, Canada clobbered Wales 42-0. They previously clobbered Fiji 65-7. Canada has now beaten their opponents by a combined score of 107-7 after two games.

The Canadians delivered six tries in the win. McKinley Hunt of King City, Ontario had two tries, while Canadian Olympic silver medalists Alysha Corrigan of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and Asia Hogan-Rochester of Toronto, Ontario, along with Taylor Perry of Oakville, Ontario and Brittany Kassil of Mississauga, Ontario had one try each. Corrigan and Hogan-Rochester won a silver medal in women’s rugby sevens at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. 

Canada will next play Scotland on September 6. That will take place in Exter, England with first place in Pool B on the line. Scotland’s wins came over Wales by a score of 38-8 on August 23, and Fiji by a score of 29-15 on Saturday.

Canada’s shutout on Saturday was the third shutout of the 2025 Women’s World Cup of Rugby to date. There were two shutouts on August 23. There we saw Australia spank Samoa by a score of 73-0 in Manchester, and France beat Italy by a score of 24-0 in Exter.
