Team Canada has improved to a record of four wins and zero losses at the 2026 Women’s World Curling Championships at the Markin MacPhail Centre in Calgary, Alberta. On Monday, Canada defeated Denmark 9-6 . The Danish team skipped by Madeleine Dupont, went down to three players after five ends as second Katrine Schmidt only played half the game due to illness.
There were two key shots in the game. The first happened in the fifth end, when Einarson decided to go with the split, and helped her get two points. The second happened in the eighth end, as Einarson delivered a key runback with her first stone. It helped her take a 6-5 lead. In the 10th end, Canada put constant pressure on Denmark, and stole three points. When Dupont delivered her final rock, as he was unable to be shot stone and Canada won 9-6.
In the fifth end, Einarson stated she was thinking about the runback, however Sweeting had confidence in her to play the split. The decision paid off significantly.
Einarson also discussed about playing against three players.
“Sometimes it is an advantage because you get to throw three rocks in a row. If you are constantly throwing draws, it definitely makes things easier.”
On Tuesday, Team Canada plays twice. They face Italy in the morning and Switzerland in the evening.
