Team Canada has improved to a record of nine wins and one loss at the 2025 World Men’s Curling Championships in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. On Thursday, the Canadians won two games very convincingly. In the morning draw, they defeated China 8-2, and in the evening draw, they defeated Switzerland 10-4.
It was a great start for Canada against China. The Canadians scored two points with the hammer in the first and third ends to take a 4-1 lead. They then stole two points in the sixth end, and recorded another steal in the seventh end to close out the scoring.
Then in Canada’s win over Switzerland, the Canadians had two big ends. They scored three points in the fifth end and four points in the eighth end.
The Canadian front end on Thursday was simply spectacular. Lead Ben Hebert curled 100% against China, and second Brent Gallant curled 100% against Switzerland.
Canada can clinch first place in the round robin standings on Friday with a win against either Austria or the United States or a loss by Scotland against either Germany or China. It should be noted that Canadian skip Brad Jacobs is an Olympic gold medalist from the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, but has never won a world championship.
