Team Canada has improved to a record of two wins and two losses in Men’s Volleyball Nations League action for 2025. On Sunday from the Videotron Centre in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada defeated Bulgaria 26-24, 25-23, 25-19. It was a significant win for Canada. Due to the fact they won in four sets or less, Canada was able to record three full points.

Earlier in the week, Canada had two points in a five set win over Germany on Wednesday (23-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-23, 15-11), and had one point in a five set loss to Argentina on Thursday (25-22, 21-25, 14-25, 25-22, 15-8), and had one point in a five set loss to France on Saturday (25-22, 29-27, 27-29, 21-25, 15-6). It should be noted that when Canada played France on Saturday it was not France’s strongest lineup.

In Canada’s win over Bulgaria, two Canadians reached double digits in points. Outside hitter Brodie Hofer of Kelowna, British Columbia led Canada in scoring with 21 points. He had 17 attack points, three block points, and one ace. Opposite spiker Ryan Sclater of New Westminster, British Columbia also reached double digits in scoring as he had 12 points (eight attack points, three block points, and one ace). Middle blocker Daenan Gyimah of Scarborough, Ontario led Canada with four block points, and Skyler Varga of Muenster, Saskatchewan led Canada with two aces.

Canada now has seven points, and are in sixth place. They next play Brazil on June 25 in Chicago.
