The Toronto Blue Jays are headed to their eighth American League Championship Series in franchise history. On Wednesday, the Blue Jays defeated the New York Yankees 5-2 in the fourth game of the American League Divisional Series. With the win, the Blue Jays beat the Yankees three games to one in the best out of five series.

Toronto will next face either the Seattle Mariners or the Detroit Tigers for the right to go to the World Series. The Tigers and Mariners will play a fifth and deciding game on Friday in the other ALDS matchup. The Blue Jays previously went to the ALCS in 1985, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 2015 and 2016. They won the 1992 ALCS in six games over the Oakland Athletics and the 1993 ALCS in six games over the Chicago White Sox. In both seasons, the Blue Jays won the World Series.

On Wednesday, the Blue Jays used eight different pitchers in their three-run win over the Yankees. Seranthony Dominguez was credited with the win, Eric Lauer, Yariel Rodriguez and Brendon Little had holds and Jeff Hoffman had the save. Offensively, Addison Barger led the Blue Jays with three hits, Ernie Clement led the Blue Jays with two runs scored, and Nathan Lukes led the Blue Jays with two runs batted in. Game one of the ALCS is on Sunday.
