The Toronto Blue Jays have their first sweep of the 2025 Major League Baseball regular season. On Wednesday, they defeated the Washington Nationals 4-2 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This was after the Blue Jays beat the Nationals 5-2 on Monday and 5-3 on Tuesday.
In the three game series, the Blue Jays outscored the Nationals 14-7. In Monday’s win, Bowden Francis had the quality start as he only gave up two earned runs in six innings, to go along with four strikeouts. Nick Sandin and Brendon Little had holds, and Yimi Garcia had a save. Offensively, the Blue Jays got a double and home run from Andres Gimenez, who scored three times.
In Tuesday’s win, Chad Green got the win for the Blue Jays in relief, and Jeff Hoffman had the save. Offensively, the Blue Jays had 12 hits (all singles). In Wednesday’s win, Easton Lucas won his first game as a Blue Jay. He was spectacular as he threw five shutout innings, and only gave up one hit and two walks, to go along with three strikeouts. Little, Green and Garcia had holds, and Hoffman had the save. Offensively, Myles Straw had two doubles and three hits overall, while George Springer hit a home run.
With the sweep, the Blue Jays improved to a record of five wins and two losses. They are in first place in the American League East, and lead the Tampa Bay Rays by half a game.
