Ann-Renee Desbiens records third career PWHL shutout

Canadian Olympic gold medalist Ann-Renee Desbiens of Clermont, Quebec recorded the third shutout of her Professional Women’s Hockey League career on Sunday. She accomplished the feat in a 1-0 Montreal Victoire win over the Vancouver Goldeneyes at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City, Quebec.

Desbiens made 26 saves for the shutout. She made 11 saves in the first period, eight saves in the second period and seven saves in the third period. Sophie Jaques of Toronto, Ontario led the Goldeneyes with seven shots on goal.

Nicole Gosling scored the first Professional Women’s Hockey League goal of her career. She scored from Canadian Olympic gold medalist Marie-Philip Poulin of Quebec City, Quebec at 12:17 of the second period for the only goal of the hockey game.

In 2025-26, Desbiens has a record of five wins and three losses. She has a goals against average of 1.25 and a save percentage of .953 with two shutouts. Her first shutout this season came on November 25, 2025 in a 4-0 Victoire win over the New York Sirens. Desbiens’s first PWHL shutout came on April 27, 2024 in a 2-0 Victoire win over the Ottawa Charge.

Desbiens and Poulin won an Olympic gold medal at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. Poulin also won gold at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
