Canadian Olympic gold medalist Ann-Renee Desbiens of Clermont, Quebec recorded her fourth career Professional Women’s Hockey League shutout on Wednesday. She accomplished the feat in a 3-0 Montreal Victoire win over the Toronto Sceptres at Place Bell in Laval, Quebec.

Desbiens made 22 saves for the shutout. She made six saves in the first period, nine saves in the second period, and seven saves in the third period. Maggie Connors of St. John’s, Newfoundland led the Sceptres with three shots on goal.

This was Desbiens’s third shutout of the season. The first came on November 25 in a 4-0 Victoire win over the New York Sirens. The second came on January 11 in a 1-0 Victoire win over the Vancouver Goldeneyes.

Offensively for the Victoire on Wednesday, Canadian Olympic gold medalist Marie-Philip Poulin scored for the Victoire. Poulin won a gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, and won a gold medal at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing with Desbiens.

This season, Desbiens has a record of nine wins and four losses with a goals against average of 1.15, and a save percentage of .954. They are in third place in the PWHL standings with 27 points (seven regulation wins, three wins in extra time and five losses).
