Al-Ahmadieh and Ofori in quarters of World Boxing Championship

Two Canadian men have advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2025 World Boxing Championships at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, Great Britain. On Monday, Keoma Ali Al-Ahmadieh of Montreal. Quebec reached the final eight in the men’s 60 kilograms and Joshua Ofori of Edmonton, Alberta reached the final eight in the men’s 75 kilograms.

In the round of 16 in the men’s 60 kilograms, Al-Ahmadieh defeated Gantomorlin Lundaa of Mongolia 5-0. In the round of 16 in the men’s 75 kilograms, Ofori defeated Nuradin Rustambek Uulu of Kyrgyzstan when the referee stopped the decision. Ofori had actually knocked out Rustambek Uulu in the opening round. It was and impressive punch by Ofori, as his Kyrgyzstan opponent was completely caught off guard.

Next up for Al-Ahmadieh is Shunsuke Kitamoto of Japan on Wednesday. The approximate time for this bout will be 1:15 PM MT. Ofori’s next opponent is Callum Makin of England on Wednesday. The approximate time for this bout will be 2:15 PM MT.

Meanwhile, there will be a third Canadian in a quarterfinal bout on Wednesday. That is Viktoria Penney of Toronto, Ontario, who got a bye directly to the quarterfinals. Penney will be facing Qimeng Zhong of China. The approximate time for this bout will be 12:45 PM MT.
