For the second time this season, Montreal Victoire right winger Laura Stacey of Mississauga, Ontario has been named the Professional Women’s Hockey League First Star of the Week. During the week from March 24-30, Stacey had two goals and two assists for four points in one game. The Canadian Olympic gold medalist from the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, was also a +3 with five shots on goal, one faceoff win, one power-play goal and one game-winning goal in a 4-1 Victoire win over the Minnesota Frost on March 26.

In the Victoire win over the Frost, Stacey scored the game-winning goal from Kristin O’Neill of Oakville, Ontario at the 24 second mark of the second period to put Montreal up 2-0. Stacey’s power-play goal came from Cayla Barnes and Canadian Olympic gold medalist Marie-Philip Poulin of Quebec City, Quebec with five minutes and 20 seconds left in the third period to close out the scoring. Poulin won a gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

For the season, Stacey has 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points in 23 games. She is a +11 with four penalty minutes, 11 faceoff wins, four power-play goals, three game-winning goals, one shootout goal, and 98 shots on goal. Stacey was previously the PWHL First Star of the Week from February 24 to March 2.

The Victoire, meanwhile, lead the PWHL standings and are the only team to have clinched a playoff spot. They have a record of 17 wins, six regulation losses and three losses in extra time for 48 points. Of the Victoire’s 17 wins, 11 have come in regulation and six have come in extras time. Toronto is in second with 45 points.
