Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Toronto, Ontario broke the NBA record on Sunday for most consecutive games on the road with a minimum of 20 points.
Gilgeous-Alexander now has played 59 straight road games with at least 20 points after a 100-87 win over the Dallas Mavericks from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. In Sunday’s game, Gilgeous-Alexander scored 30 points in 33 minutes and 29 seconds worth of action. He made 12 of 20 field goal attempts, one of five three point attempts, and five of six three throws. Gilgeous-Alexander had five assists, four rebounds, four steals and was a +13.
Wilt Chamberlain had the old record. He had a minimum of 20 points in 58 straight road games from 1961 to 1963 according to Conor Liguori of The Sporting News.
Gilgeous-Alexander’s streak began on October 24, 2024 in a 102-87 Thunder win over the Denver Nuggets. In 36 minutes and 12 seconds, Gilgeous-Alexander had 28 points.
