
Team Canada has won their third medal at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. On Tuesday, the Canadian quartet of Kim Boutin, Felix Roussel and William Dandjinou of Sherbrooke, Quebec, and Courtney Sarault of Moncton, New Brunswick teamed up to win the silver medal in the mixed 2000 metre relay short track speed skating competition.
The Canadian team posted a time of 2:39.258. Italy won the gold medal with a time of 2:39.019 and Belgium won the bronze medal with a time of 2:39.353. Canada reached the podium by 0.343 seconds over China, who finished in fourth place with a time of 2:39.601.
It should be noted that two Canadians–Florence Brunelle of Trois-Rivieres, Quebec and Steven Dubois of Laval, Quebec did not compete in the final, but did come away with medals because Brunelle competed in the quarterfinals and Dubois competed in the semifinals.
This is the first Olympic medal for Dandjinou, Brunelle, Roussel and Sarault. This is the fifth Olympic medal for Boutin, and fourth Olympic medal for Dubois.
With the second place finish, Team Canada now has three medals at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. They have won one silver medal; and two bronze medals. In the overall medal standings, Canada is in 10th place.
