Team Canada has got off to simply a marvelous start in mixed doubles curling at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. Heading into Thursday’s action, the Canadian team of Brett Gallant of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer, Alberta were undefeated after beating the Czech Republic 10-5 in their opener.

Then on Thursday, Gallant and Peterman delivered two gigantic victories in wins over Norway and Italy. To put the wins into perspective, the Norwegian team of Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten had won a medal in mixed doubles curling at the last two Olympic Winter Games–bronze at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang and silver at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. Meanwhile, the Italian team of Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner were undefeated in winning gold at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing and at the 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship.

On Thursday, Gallant and Peterman came through with a 6-3 Canada win over Norway and a 7-2 win over Italy. It was the start that Gallant and Peterman had against the Italians was the most noteworthy. That is because they scored five points to take the commanding lead. Next up for Canada on Friday is the United States at 2am MT.
