Megan Oldham of Newmarket, Ontario and Elena Gaskell of Vernon, British Columbia each won World Cup women’s slopestyle skiing medals on Friday from Aspen, Colorado. Oldham and Gaskell won medals in the same event as Oldham won silver and Gaskell won bronze.

Oldham had a score of 73.02 points. Gaskell had a score of 72.9 points. Kristy Muir of Great Britain won the gold medal with 80.62 points. Oldham reached the podium by 7.12 points and Gaskell reached the podium by seven points. Giulia Tanno of Switzerland was in fourth place with 65.9 points.

This was the second World Cup women’s slopestyle skiing event of the year. In November in Stubai, Austria, the finals in the women’s event were cancelled due to high winds, and the World Cup results were based on what happened in qualifications. There was not a men’s event in Stubai at all.

In the World Cup women’s slopestyle skiing standings, Oldham is the World Cup leader after two of five events with 130 points. Meanwhile, another Canadian is in second in the standings, as Olivia Asselin of Quebec City, Quebec has 116 points. Gaskell is seventh with 60 points. The next World Cup women’s slopestyle World Cup is in Laax, Switzerland on January 17. The World Cup medals for Oldham and Gaskell will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
