Team Canada remains undefeated at the 2026 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Men’s Hockey Championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On Wednesday, Canada defeated Finland 7-4 to improve to a record of four wins and zero losses. Canada finished in first place in Group B and will now play Slovakia in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Three Canadians led Team Canada in scoring with three points. They were Barrie Colts centre Cole Beaudoin of Ottawa, Ontario (two goals and one assist), Calgary Flames defenseman Zayne Parekh of Markham, Ontario (one goal and two assists), and London Knights right winger Sam O’Reilly of Toronto, Ontario (one goal and two assists). Beaudoin is a product of the Utah Mammoth, and O’Reilly is a product of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Four more Canadians had a multi-point game. They were Sault. Ste. Marie Greyhounds centre Brady Martin of Kitchener, Ontario (two goals), Kelowna Rockets centre Tij Iginla of Kelowna, British Columbia (one goal and one assist), University of Michigan centre Michael Hage of Oakville, Ontario (two assists), and Moncton Wildcats centre Caleb Desnoyers of Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec (two assists). Martin was drafted by the Nashville Predators, Iginla and Desnoyers were drafted by the Mammoth, and Hage was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens.
The game between Canada and Slovakia will be the fourth quarterfinal. The other three quarterfinals will have the United States versus Finland, Sweden versus Latvia, and the Czech Republic versus Switzerland.
