Joel Hofer of Winnipeg, Manitoba recorded his fifth career National Hockey League shutout on Wednesday. He accomplished the feat in a 1-0 St. Louis Blues win over the Winnipeg Jets at Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Hofer made 24 saves for the shutout. He made six saves in the first period, nine saves in the second period and nine saves in the third period. Defenseman Neal Pionk led the Jets with four shots on goal.

The Blues got their only goal of the game at 13:17 of the second period. Justin Faulk scored from Blues captain Robert Thomas of Aurora, Ontario.

This was Hofer’s third shutout of the season. He previously blanked the Buffalo Sabres 3-0 on November 6 and the Utah Mammoth 1-0 on November 29.

Hofer’s first two NHL shutouts were also with the Blues. The first came on October 26, 2023, in a 3-0 Blues win over the Calgary Flames, and the second came on October 17, 2024, in a 1-0 Blues win over the New York Islanders. It is interesting that three of the five shutouts Hofer has had in his career have come in 1-0 Blues wins.

In 2025-26 Hofer now has a record of six wins, seven regulation losses, and two losses in extra time. Half of Hofer’s wins have been shutouts. He also has a goals against average of 2.96 and a save percentage of .896.
