Julien Viel of Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec won a bronze medal on Monday in a World Cup men’s moguls event in Ruka, Finland. For Viel, it was his fourth career World Cup moguls medal. Two of the medals have come in moguls, and the other two medals have come in dual moguls.

Viel posted a third place score in Ruka of 79.3 points. Matt Graham of Australia won the gold medal with a score of 81.72 points. Ikuma Horishima of Japan won the silver medal with a score of 80.58 points. Viel reached the podium by 2.07 points. Nick Page of the United States finished in fourth place with a score of 77.23 points. Canadian Olympic gold medalist Mikael Kingsbury of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec did not compete in Ruka on Monday because of a groin injury.

In the World Cup standings, Viel is in sixth place with 63 points. Horishima leads with 180 points.

Viel’s first World Cup medal was a bronze medal in dual moguls in Chiesa in Valmalenco, Italy on February 11, 2023. That was followed by a silver medal in moguls in Val St. Come, Quebec on January 31, 2025, and a bronze medal in dual moguls in Beidahu, China on February 22, 2025. The bronze medal for Viel in Ruka on Monday will give him confidence as he prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
