Humana-Paredes & Wilkerson win Pool J at Beach Volleyball Worlds

Canadian Olympic silver medalists Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson of Toronto, Ontario have won Pool J at the 2025 World Beach Volleyball Championships in Adelaide, Australia. On Monday, Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson beat Clemence Vieira and Aline Chamereau of France 21-16, 22-20 to go through Pool J with a perfect record of three wins and zero losses.

Wilkerson led Canada in scoring with 21 points. She had 16 attack points, three aces and two block points. Humana-Paredes had 11 points with all 11 points coming from the attack.

By winning Pool J, Wilkerson and Humana-Paredes now advance to the round of 32. They will play Valentyna Davidova and Anhelina Khmil of Ukraine in the round of 32 knockout stage (Tuesday at 4:30 AM MT). Davidova and Khmil finished in second place in Pool B with a record of two wins and one loss. Ukraine beat the Netherlands and Egypt, and lost to Brazil.

Meanwhile, Samuel Schacter of North York, Ontario and Jonathan Pickett of Wiarton, Ontario are in the lucky loser playoff portion of the World Volleyball Championships. On Sunday evening in Canada (Monday in Adelaide), Schacter and Pickett won their first game of the tournament as they defeated Jose Mondlane and Osvaldo Mungoi of Mozambique 21-14, 21-16. Pickett led Canada with 14 points (11 attack points, two block points and one ace), and Schachter had 13 points (12 attack points and one block point). Schacter and Pickett will now play Matthew Immers and Ruben Penninga of the Netherlands at 9pm MT on Monday evening. Immers and Penninga finished in third place in Pool I with a record of one win and two losses.
