Canada’s annual inflation rate edged down to 2.2 per cent in October, largely due to gas prices falling at a faster pace, Statistics Canada said on Monday.
Pump prices fell at a rate of 9.4 per cent in October, after falling 4.1 per cent in September, as people switched to cheaper winter gas blends and lower crude prices continued.
Excluding gasoline, inflation came in at 2.6 per cent last month, the same as in September.
