Florida Panthers right winger Brad Marchand of Halifax, Nova Scotia recorded his 1000th National Hockey League point on Thursday. He accomplished the feat by setting up Eetu Luostarinen with 90 seconds left in regulation on an empty net goal in a 6-3 Panthers win over the Washington Capitals.

Marchand now has 435 goals and 565 assists for 1000 points. Of the 1000 points, 976 points came with the Boston Bruins from 2009 to 2025, and 24 points have come in Marchand’s two seasons with the Panthers.

This is the second time this season a NHL player recorded his 1000th career point. Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning accomplished the feat on October 25 in a 4-3 Lightning win over the Anaheim Ducks on October 25.

Marchand is the 102nd NHL player to reach 1000 points in his career. Of the 102 players to accomplish the feat, 73 are Canadian. Wayne Gretzky of Brantford, Ontario is the all-time leader in NHL points with 2857.

In Marchand’s career, he has played in 1116 NHL games. He is a +282 with 1133 penalty minutes, 253 power-play points, 59 shorthanded points, 83 game-winning goals, 2857 shots on goal, 268 faceoff wins, 384 blocked shots, 1054 hits, 678 takeaways, and 964 giveaways.

With the win, the Panthers have now won two straight games. They have a record of nine wins, seven regulation losses and one loss in extra time.
