Andrew Wiggins records third career NBA buzzer beater

Andrew Wiggins of Toronto, Ontario came up in the clutch big time on Monday night. The 30-year-old All-Star forward made his third career buzzer beater in a 140-138 Miami Heat win over the Cleveland Cavaliers from Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.

Wiggins broke a 138-138 tie at the very end of overtime with a two-point dunk at the rim. Nikola Jovic picked up the assist. Wiggins finished the game with 23 points. That is the most number of points Wiggins has had in a Heat win this season. He did have 24 points in a 107-101 Miami loss to the San Antonio Spurs on October 30.

In the game against Cleveland, Wiggins also had five assists, two rebounds and one steal. He made eight of 13 field goals, two of five three point attempts and five of six free throws.

Wiggins’s first buzzer beater came on January 24, 2017 in a 112-111 Minnesota Timberwolves win over the Phoenix Suns. Wiggins made an 18 foot field goal. Wiggins’s second buzzer beater came on October 22, 2017 with a three-point shot from 29 feet. Wiggins helped the Timberwolves beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 115-113.

This season, Wiggins is averaging 17.8 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, 2.5 assists per game, and 1.4 steals per game. He has a field goal percentage of .527, three point percentage of .400, ands a free throw percentage of .645.

With the win, the Heat improve to a record of seven wins and four losses. They lead the Atlanta Hawks by one game in the Southeast Division.
