Canada has improved to a record of two wins and zero losses at the 2025 Women’s World Volleyball Championship in Thailand. On Monday in Nakhon Ratchasima, Canada beat Spain in five nail-biting sets, 22-25, 28-26, 24-26, 25-15, 15-10.

Four Canadians reached double digits in points. Outside hitter Andrea Mitrovic of Mississauga, Ontario led Canada in points in the second straight game. After scoring 17 points in a four set win over Bulgaria on Saturday, Mitrovic had 22 points against Spain. She had 20 attack points and two block points. Meanwhile, outside hitter Hilary Johnson of Calgary, Alberta had 19 points (17 attack points and two blocked points), middle blocker Nyadholi Thokbuom of Calgary, had 15 points (10 attack points, four blocked points and one ace), and captain and middle blocker Emily Maglio of Cranbrook, British Columbia had 10 points (eight attack points, one ace and one blocked point).

Canada had three aces in the match. In addition to Thokbuom and Maglio collecting one, opposite Anna Smrek of St. Catharines, Ontario had one too.

Canada next plays Turkey on Wednesday. This will be for first place in Pool E. Turkey has also beat Spain and Bulgaria, and has not lost a set in the process. It is a rather important game for Canada because if they lose, they will face the heavily favoured United States in the round of 16.
