Samuel Talbot of Longueuil, Quebec won his third gold medal on Thursday at the 2025 Canada Games in St. John’s, Newfoundland. After winning the gold medal in men’s artistic diving on Tuesday, and men’s 1m springboard diving on Wednesday, Talbot won the gold medal in men’s 3m springboard diving on Thursday.

Talbot had a total score of 320.1 points. Congdon Jackson of Victoria, British Columbia won the silver medal with 316.95 points. Kash Tarasoff of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan won the bronze medal with 316.5 points. Talbot reached the podium by 5.2 points over Claude-Olivier Lise-Coderre of Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, who was in fourth place with a score of 314.9 points.

The gold medal Talbot won on Thursday had a little bit more significance. That is because 3m springboard diving is an Olympic event, while men’s artistic diving and men’s 1m springboard diving are not.

Talbot will also be a medal contender in the men’s platform on Saturday. He has a personal best score in the men’s platform of 475.85 points. That was set at the 2024 World Junior Aquatics Diving Championships in Rio de Janeiro. Talbot finished in 13th place.

Quebec leads the current Canada Games medal standings with 121 medals. They have 44 gold medals, 40 silver medals and 37 bronze medals. Ontario is second with 111 medals.
