The Toronto Blue Jays swept the Colorado Rockies this week in Denver, and it simply was not even remotely close. The Blue Jays won by scores of 15-1 on Monday, 10-4 on Tuesday and 20-1 on Wednesday. In the process, the Blue Jays set a franchise record for most runs in a three game series (45) and hits in a three game series (63). The previous record for most runs scored by the Blue Jays in a three game series was 40, accomplished from July 22-24 against the Boston Red Sox. In the same three game series, the Blue Jays had their initial record for hits in a three game series (51).

In the Blue Jays’s 15-1 win over the Rockies on Monday, Bo Bichette hit two home runs and had six runs batted in. Meanwhile, Ernie Clement had five hits (three singles, one double and one triple), and Daulton Varsho also homered. Eric Lauer had a quality start as he gave up one earned run in six innings. He had four strikeouts and gave up one walk and seven hits.

In the Blue Jays’s 10-4 win over the Rockies on Tuesday, Varsho had two home runs and six runs batted in. Nathan Lukes, Addison Barger and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of Montreal, Quebec also homered. Jose Berrios got the win, while Yariel Rodriguez and Louis Varland had holds.

In the Blue Jays’s 20-1 win over the Rockies on Wednesday, Clement, Ty France and Guerrero Jr. had four hits. Davis Schneider hit two home runs, while Bichette, Clement and Guerrero Jr. also homered. Kevin Gausman had a quality start as he gave up one earned run in seven innings. He had eight strikeouts and gave up three hits, and two walks.

The Blue Jays now improve to a record of 68 wins and 48 losses. They are in first place in the American League East and lead the Boston Red Sox by four games.
