The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles made a trade on Tuesday. The Blue Jays acquired relief pitcher Seranthony Dominguez of Esperanza, Dominican Republic from the Orioles for minor league prospect Juaron Watts-Brown, a right-handed starting pitcher who had played the last two seasons with the Vancouver Canadians of the Northwest League, according to Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors.
The Blue Jays are Dominguez’s third Major League Baseball team. He had played six seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies from 2018 to 2024, and the last two seasons with the Orioles.
In 2025 with the Orioles, Dominguez pitched in 43 games and had a record of two wins and three losses with an earned run average of 3.24. During 41 2/3 innings pitched, he gave up 32 hits, 15 earned runs, four home runs, and 24 walks, to go along with 54 strikeouts, two saves, 13 holds, and a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) of 1.34.
Dominguez’s wins came in an 8-5 Orioles win over the Boston Red Sox on March 31 (one shutout inning with one strikeout), and in a 9-5 Orioles win over the Cincinnati Reds on April 19 (one shutout inning and gave up one hit). Dominguez’s saves came in a 2-1 Orioles win over the Red Sox on May 24 (one earned run allowed in an inning and two thirds), and in a 2-1 Orioles win over the Atlanta Braves on July 6 (one earned run allowed in one inning).
The Blue Jays are currently at 63 wins and 46 losses. They lead the New York Yankees by four games in the American League East.
