Guenthner is fastest steer wrestler on day 2 of Calgary Stampede

Scott Guenthner of Consort, Alberta posted the fastest time of day two of the 2025 Calgary Stampede in the steer wrestling competition. Guenthner was one of two Canadians to finish in the top three on Saturday. The other was Macy Auclair of Ponoka, Alberta, who finished in second place in the new event of ladies’ breakaway roping.

Guenthner had a time of 3.8 seconds in the steer wrestling event. He was a tenth of a second faster than JD Struxness of Milan, Minnesota, who had a second place time of 3.9 seconds. Tyler Waguespack of Gonzales, Louisiana was in third place with a time of four seconds. With Saturday’s fastest time, Guenthner won $7000, and moves into first place in the aggregate standings with $12,500, Waguespack is in second with $9000.

Auclair had a time of 2.8 seconds, and was tied for second place in the breakaway roping with Kinlie Brennise of Craig, Colorado. Taylor Munsell of Harmon, Oklahoma had the fastest time of 2.6 seconds. In the aggregate standings after two days, Shelby Boisjoli-Meged of Langdon, Alberta, is the top Canadian in third place with $7500. Brennise leads with $10,500, and Munsell is second with $9625.00.

In the Rangeland Derby, Obrey Motowylo of Hoadley, Alberta had the fastest chuckwagon racing time of 1:12.30 on Saturday. The aggregate leader after two days is Chanse Vigen of Calgary, Alberta, with a time of 2:24.56.
