Team Canada is in the quarterfinals of the 2025 FIBA 3×3 Women’s World Cup in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. On Friday, Canada defeated Japan 18-6 in round of 16 action.

Canada was led by Cassandra Brown of Vernon, British Columbia, who had eight points. Paige Crozon of Humboldt, Saskatchewan led Canada with 12 rebounds, and Saicha Grant-Allen led Canada with three key assists.

The difference in the game was clearly rebounding. Canada had 28 rebounds as a team, while Japan had 10. Canada had the clear height advantage compared to Japan, and were able to use their size to their benefit.

It was a bounce back win for Team Canada. They had lost their last two Pool C games by scores of 14-13 to France and 16-14 to Hungary on Wednesday.

In order for Canada to go deep into the playoffs, they will need a little bit more scoring from Crozon. She only scored three points against Japan, had only one point in Canada’s win over Austria, and two points in Canada’s loss to France.

Canada’s opponent in the quarterfinals will be Spain. The other three women’s quarterfinals have Australia versus the Netherlands, France versus Poland and the United States versus Mongolia. The four quarterfinals on the men’s side have the United States versus Germany, Serbia versus Puerto Rico, Switzerland versus Latvia, and China versus Spain.
