Abbotsford Canucks win 2025 Calder Cup

The Abbotsford Canucks have won the 2025 American Hockey League Calder Cup. On Monday, the Canucks defeated the Charlotte Checkers 3-2 at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina to win the best out of seven series four games to two. This is the first time ever that a minor league affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks have won the Calder Cup, presented to the American Hockey League champion.

In game six, Canucks left winger Arshdeep Bains of Surrey, British Columbia led the team in points with two as he had two assists. The undrafted forward was raised in metro Vancouver and whose parents came to British Columbia from India in 1982. In 24 AHL postseason games, Bains led the Canucks with 17 assists, and was second on the Canucks in postseason goals (seven), and postseason points (24). Bains was only behind Linus Karlsson, who led the Canucks in postseason goals (14) and postseason points (26). The other Canadian to score for the Canucks in game six was Sammy Blais of Montmagny, Quebec.

There were 10 other Canadians on the Abbotsford Canucks in the AHL postseason. They were defenseman Joe Arntsen of Dinsmore, Saskatchewan, defenseman Guillaume Brisebois of Longueuil, Quebec, left winger Phil Di Giuseppe of Toronto, Ontario, defenseman Akito Hirose of Calgary, Alberta, left winger Jujhar Khaira of Surrey, British Columbia, centre Ty Mueller of Edmonton, Alberta, centre Tristen Nielsen of Fort St. John, British Columbia, defenseman Christian Wolanin of Quebec City, Quebec, defenseman Jet Woo of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and centre Chase Wouters of North Battleford, Saskatchewan.
