4 Canadians contribute to Week 10 CFL TDs for winning teams

Week 10 of the Canadian Football League season is now complete and four Canadians contributed to touchdowns for winning teams. They were British Columbia Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke of Victoria, British Columbia, Lions wide receiver Jevon Cottoy, who was raised in Calgary, Alberta, Edmonton Elks defensive back Tyrell Ford of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Elks wide receiver Kaion Julien-Grant of Toronto, Ontario.

In the Lions’s 41-38 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Thursday, Rourke threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Cottoy with 11 seconds left in the first half to put British Columbia up 13-7. Then with 39 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Rourke threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to James Butler to put the Lions up 38-35.

In the game, Rourke completed 24 of 40 passes for 408 passing yards, with two passing touchdowns and one interception. He also had two rushes for 28 rushing yards. For the season, Rourke has completed 158 passes in 237 attempts for 2304 passing yards, with 12 touchdown passes and five interceptions. He also has 28 rushes for 238 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Cottoy had two catches for 22 receiving yards. For the season, he has 34 catches for 384 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.

Then on Friday, the Edmonton Elks defeated the Montreal Alouettes 23-22. Ford pulled the Elks within two points (13-11 Montreal) with an 87 yard interception return for a touchdown. Julien-Grant then had a one-yard touchdown pass from Cody Fajardo at 4:36 of the fourth quarter to once again pull the Elks within two points (19-17 Montreal), and then a 15-yard touchdown pass from Fajardo with 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.

Ford also had five tackles in the game. He has 23 tackles for the season. Julien-Grant had five catches for 45 receiving yards in the game. For the season he has 21 catches for 346 receiving yards and five touchdown catches.
