The National Hockey League trade deadline is Friday. Two notable Canadians were traded on the eve of the deadline. They were left wingers Michael Bunting of Scarborough, Ontario, and David Perron of Sherbrooke, Quebec according to Rogers Sportsnet.

The Stars are Bunting’s sixth NHL team after two seasons with the Arizona Coyotes, two seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs, one season with the Carolina Hurricanes and two seasons each with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators.

The game-winning goal came on January 16 in a 7-3 Predators win over the Colorado Avalanche. Bunting put the Predators up 4-2 with one minute and 56 seconds left in the second period from Steven Stamkos of Markham, Ontario.

Perron is returning to the Red Wings after playing there from 2022 to 2024. He has also played with the St. Louis Blues, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, St. Louis Blues, Vegas Golden Knights, and Senators.

This past season in Ottawa, Perron has 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points in 49 games. Perron’s game-winning goal came on December 20 in a 6-4 Senators win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
